Can You Hear Me Now?

This past week I was reminded, I believe from God, of some very important things. I learned early in my Christian walk that God will establish His Word to you, with two or more witnesses. What does that mean? Well, I'm not a Pastor or Bible Scholar, but I do know & love God's Word (The Bible). I also know that God's Word is God Himself speaking to me (and all who believe). Well according to scripture when God speaks, He backs it up. Kind of like when you tell your kids not to touch the stove because it's hot, you don't just say it once do you? And doesn't the stove back you up by being hot and giving you an indicator light so you can "see" that it's hot? Or how about this, have you ever asked the question, "what am I good at?", and then two or three people tell you the same things? Same with God. He never just tells His children one time, one way and if we get it we get it and if we don't we don't. That wouldn't be very nice of Him. No, He's constantly speaking to us, even when we're not listening or expecting it.

1 Samuel 3:1-10 God Calls Samuel:

The boy Samuel was serving God under Eli's direction. This was at a time when the revelation of God was rarely heard or seen. One night Eli was sound asleep (his eyesight was very bad—he could hardly see). It was well before dawn; the sanctuary lamp was still burning. Samuel was still in bed in the Temple of God, where the Chest of God rested.

Then God called out, "Samuel, Samuel!" Samuel answered, "Yes? I'm here." Then he ran to Eli saying, "I heard you call. Here I am." Eli said, "I didn't call you. Go back to bed." And so he did.
God called again, "Samuel, Samuel!" Samuel got up and went to Eli, "I heard you call. Here I am."
Again Eli said, "Son, I didn't call you. Go back to bed." (This all happened before Samuel knew God for himself. It was before the revelation of God had been given to him personally.) God called again, "Samuel!"—the third time! Yet again Samuel got up and went to Eli, "Yes? I heard you call me. Here I am."
That's when it dawned on Eli that God was calling the boy. So Eli directed Samuel, "Go back and lie down. If the voice calls again, say, 'Speak, God. I'm your servant, ready to listen." Samuel returned to his bed.
Then God came and stood before him exactly as before, calling out, "Samuel! Samuel!"
Samuel answered, "Speak. I'm your servant, ready to listen."
I encourage you to keep reading to find out WHAT God was calling Samuel for. (Good Stuff...and a could write a book on that one!)

My reminder was this...just because you may not "hear" it over and over doesn't mean the message has changed. Something I've believed and known in my heart was confirmed by a friend...she didn't know what it was, but she voiced it as if she had been told too. It was as if God said, "Shannon, I don't forget and I've got that all in control. Just when you think it was just your imagination, I will speak through someone else to confirm My Word to you." I often tell my son this...Just because I stop telling you to take the trash out daily, doesn't mean it doesn't need to go out. Plain and simple, when you know something so strong in your heart, don't let it go. But if you do, don't worry God will bring it back around and confirm what you know with two or three witnesses. If there are people you trust that are saying the same thing...in my opinion you might want to stop and listen. Like the account of Samuel, He will continue to call to get your attention.

2 Corinthians 13:1
Well, this is my third visit coming up. Remember the Scripture that says, "A matter becomes clear after two or three witnesses give evidence"?

Proverbs 11:14
Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
